U.S. Raises Daily Arrest Target for Illegal Immigrants to 1,800

The administration of former U.S. President Donald Trump has increased its target for daily arrests of illegal immigrants to 1,800, according to a report by the New York Post, which cites multiple sources.

Earlier this week, the Washington Post revealed that Trump was frustrated with the outcomes of his mass deportation efforts and directed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to boost arrests from a range of 1,200 to 1,500 per day.

As the report states, “The Trump administration is now requiring ICE to achieve at least 1,800 arrests daily, establishing a goal of a minimum of 75 arrests per each of the agency’s 25 offices.”

Since taking office, ICE has carried out over 4,500 arrests, conducting operations in major U.S. cities such as New York, Denver, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Boston. Reports indicate that the White House is seeking to implement even stricter enforcement measures.

Following his inauguration on January 20, Trump committed to promptly halting irregular migrant crossings at the U.S. border and initiating the process of deporting millions. He also declared a nationwide state of emergency regarding the situation at the southern border.
