VIDEO: Tariff Increase Not Yet Approved — MTN CEO

In a recent exclusive interview with Channels Television in Lagos, Karl Toriola, the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria, addressed the status of a proposed tariff increase within the telecommunications sector. He clarified that although the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has officially announced a substantial 50% raise in tariffs for telecom operators in the country, the actual implementation of this increase has not yet received approval from the regulator.

Toriola explained that a formal proposal has been submitted to the NCC for consideration regarding the implementation of the tariff hike. He emphasized the importance of regulatory approval in executing such significant changes, indicating that discussions are ongoing to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations before any steps are taken to enforce the new tariffs.
