IPAC Calls for Sowore's Release, Accuses Authorities of Political Detention

ABUJA – The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has urgently called for the immediate and unconditional release of Omoyele Sowore, National Chairman of the African Action Congress (AAC) and 2023 presidential candidate, following his detention by police after an invitation for questioning. IPAC stated, “The Police must carry out their duties within the confines of the law and should not assume extralegal powers.” Sowore is currently held at the Force Intelligence Department (FID) in Abuja after he could not fulfill what he deemed onerous bail conditions, such as providing a Grade Level 16 civil servant as surety. “It is essential for justice, fairness, equity, and good conscience to release Sowore immediately or formally charge him.
